India is a vast country with not just diverse cultures, languages and religions but also with an entirely different political atmosphere in all its regions. But we can clearly differentiate North and South on the basis of their prevailing politics. Beginning from the North, the masses in this region have a pro-Hindu sentiments which is often triggered during elections by the politicians. Their mode of operandi is simple. They either target a minority community claiming that they are a threat to the Hindu majority or else they would invoke a special feeling for the country in the name of patriotism which work out pretty well in winning their precious votes. So the candidate who promises to build temples rather than hospitals or schools for the poor people are likely to win the elections in the North.

South Indians however have a different taste in choosing their leaders. As observed from previous elections, unlike North Indians they are reluctant to pro-Hindu politics and has always favored other ideologies. For example, people of Tamil Nadu have been unceasingly following Dravidian politics and those in Kerala, have a majority that perpetually support Communist Governments. The reflection of this existing disparity between South & North can be seen in their respective election results. Till date, the Northern States have not favored any left allies and their counterparts haven't given the right wing an opportunity to rule over them. This dissimilarity cites the distinction in their collective conscience which, I believe, might have formed since the Aryan invasion which is said to have happened thousands of years ago after which the Dravidians, who are said to be the natives of our country, were pushed to the southern region. So basically there is nothing wrong in saying that the political contrast apparent among them is a continuation of the Aryan Vs Dravidian politics that existed ages ago.
